The VTCT NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy Course is the ultimate starting point for aspiring beauty professionals. Accredited by OFQUAL and recognised throughout the beauty industry, this long-standing qualification equips you with the skills and knowledge to launch your career in beauty therapy.
Our fast-track course is designed for those who want to complete their training quickly and efficiently. Students can choose from a 12-week (2 days per week) or 22-week (1 day per week) schedule, blending theory with practical training and assessments.
Established in 1954, our academy provides students with personalised support, expert guidance, and extra tips to stay ahead in the competitive beauty industry.
The comprehensive curriculum of our Level 2 Beauty Therapy training provides a strong foundation for essential beauty treatments and salon management.

To obtain NVQ/VRQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy Diploma, you will need to complete the following units:

FAQs
Is VTCT equivalent to NVQ?
**NVQ** – NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualifications. This is the general name given to the courses in the UK. It is important to understand this is not just a certificate for knowledge but also for your skills. **VTCT** – Vocational Training Charitable Trust – this is the assessment organisation that will ultimately award the certificate for your diploma in beauty therapy. Our NVQ courses are awarded by VTCT. This is why you may see the two acronyms used at the same time.
What can I do after a Level 2 Beauty Therapy Course?On successful completion of our Level 2 courses, you could progress to a higher level course, such as Level 3, an apprenticeship or other employment.
Will my NVQ/VTCT beauty or aesthetics qualification expire?You do not need to renew an NVQ as they don't expire.
How will you be assessed?For each unit of the level 2 beauty therapy course, you will perform practical skills, submit coursework and sit for tests. Assessment will be continuous throughout the duration of your course. The beauty training consists of practical assessments, oral questions, theory tests, and assignments. At the end of the course, you must provide evidence to determine whether you have reached the required level of competence. Written assessment papers will give further evidence of your knowledge and understanding of the subject. The collation of the assessments will be contained in a portfolio which will contain all document feedback sheets, including all written work.

It was an absolutely amazing experience. The teacher Miglena was incredibly knowledgeable and broke the theory of laser and IPL down into what any of the group needed to be able to understand.

I had a Level 2-3 skin care and electrotherapy with teacher Pembe Hassan. She was amazing lovely, funny, knowledgeable and supportive. Even after I’ve done the course she still help me out through some questions.

I recently completed the levels 2 & 3 Nail Technician course with Ray Cochrane in June 2023 at Canary Wharf. My teacher Arjana was AMAZING! her knowledge, experience and techniques are excellent. I've been a model for students' practical training for some time now and I am so impressed with their quality standards! First of all the instructor (Meglena) is amazing! She's knowledgeable, experienced, thorough with unbelievable attention to detail. I can easily trust her with my face and body and I'm a very peaky client. In her hands and in hands of her students I feel safe. All students are guided at every little step of their learning journey. She's always there for them, showing them the way, supporting, giving valuable information and assessing their knowledge. The clinic is equipped with latest machines and they use their best devices for training purposes which is a pure admiration. Apart from that every student is equipped with ever changing PPE and they use high quality expensive skin products. The school provides it all and they invest so much into offering the best working environment to their students. I completed Level 4 in laser and IPL at Ray Cochrane a few years ago and 3 of my laser therapists have just finished their Level 4 courses. The training is gold standard and the tutors are knowledgable, friendly and experienced. We love the fact that they use Alma Soprano laser machines which we have in our clinic, and the Alma IPL Harmony skin treatment machine As one of the longest established beauty academies in the UK I wouldn’t send my therapists anywhere else!!

I recently completed my Level 3 Beauty Therapy course with Ray Cochrane (Baker Street) we had a very supportive course Tutor, Korrin Johnson she was very informative throughout the course and helped us during our time studying. There were various elements to the Beauty Therapy course, it was useful to record videos to be able to look back on. Korrin also helped us with any questions we had on practical work experience and was always there to guide and answer any questions we had.
I did not attend a course myself but spoke to the admin team on numerous occasions and I cannot begin to explain how helpful, understanding and supportive they were. I would 100% recommend Ray Cochrane Beauty School to anyone wanting to further their education - what a fabulous place and a fabulous team!
I have just finished the VTCT level 4 in laser hair reduction and IPL skin rejuvenation. The school was in a easy to get to area, with plenty of local food places to feed myself. The training was intensive, but Miglena has a very good way of explaining things and is really knowledge and approachable. We had the most up to date equipment to practice with and they had organised models for us to practice on ( this often isn't the case I've found with courses). Lastly the girls in the office were very helpful and friendly if I needed any help with anything. Highly recommend.
I made my level 3 beauty therapy in this school and I was very pleased with our teacher Korrin. She was very open to give a lot of knowledge, very diplomatic and patient, caring and attentive. The school location is very convenient, the course was informative and I enjoyed Sunday attendance as it allowed me to work during the week. The interior rooms are quiet simple but they had everything needed for the course.
Being a student for level 4 ( Laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation) also for level 4 ( Chemical peel and Microneedling) was the best experienced ever. One year ago I graduated with the CIBTAC/CIDESCO diploma and also level 4 (Laser& IPL). It has been the most intense but also the most rewarding experience of my life so far. After taking advice from the college I took the 10 week course, 2 days a week.
The course was intensive but our teacher Arjana was very patient and helpful.
I met some lovely people on the course and we all shared our problems together.
I am delighted to say I've just passed the exams and have received my diplomas.
