Our VTCT Level 5 Certificate in Laser Tattoo Removal is specialised, advanced, non-medical aesthetic training for practitioners who already hold a Level 4 Laser and IPL qualification and want to work as professional laser tattoo removal practitioners. The VTCT (ITEC) Level 5 Certificate in Laser Tattoo Removal is the most advanced and recognised OFQUAL-regulated non-medical aesthetic training available. It is the perfect course for qualified laser therapists with Level 4 Laser and IPL certificates who want to advance their skills.
As with all of our courses, the laser tattoo removal training is designed to meet the highest criteria of the aesthetic industry based on employer and occupational standards.
Key areas of learning include:
Knowledge and Understanding – Relevant anatomy, physiology, and health and safety of Level 5 aesthetic therapies.
Client Consultation Skills – Transferring these skills to laser tattoo removal for accurate analysis and advice.
Communication and Customer Service – Enhancing these skills to meet employer expectations.
Learners also gain hands-on experience with Q-Switched laser systems for tattoo fading or removal, focusing on removing complex tattoo ink colours such as blue, black, red, and green on various skin tones.
At Ray Cochrane Beauty Aesthetic Academy, our VTCT Level 5 laser tattoo removal course is taught as a hybrid learning option. Theory is completed online over two weeks, and practical training is in person over four days with our expert tutors. Finally, learners must complete external and internal assignments/case studies to demonstrate the knowledge learnt. To obtain VTCT (ITEC) Level 5 Certificate in Laser Tattoo Removal, you need to learn 4 units and pass an external exam:

I've been a model for students' practical training for some time now and I am so impressed with their quality standards! First of all the instructor (Meglena) is amazing! I completed Level 4 in laser and IPL at Ray Cochrane a few years ago and 3 of my laser therapists have just finished their Level 4 courses. The training is gold standard and the tutors are knowledgable, friendly and experienced. We love the fact that they use Alma Soprano laser machines which we have in our clinic, and the Alma IPL Harmony skin treatment machine As one of the longest established beauty academies in the UK I wouldn’t send my therapists anywhere else!!

I recently completed my Level 3 Beauty Therapy course with Ray Cochrane (Baker Street) we had a very supportive course Tutor, Korrin Johnson she was very informative throughout the course and helped us during our time studying. There were various elements to the Beauty Therapy course, it was useful to record videos to be able to look back on. Korrin also helped us with any questions we had on practical work experience and was always there to guide and answer any questions we had.
I did not attend a course myself but spoke to the admin team on numerous occasions and I cannot begin to explain how helpful, understanding and supportive they were. I would 100% recommend Ray Cochrane Beauty School to anyone wanting to further their education - what a fabulous place and a fabulous team!
I have just finished the VTCT level 4 in laser hair reduction and IPL skin rejuvenation. The school was in a easy to get to area, with plenty of local food places to feed myself. The training was intensive, but Miglena has a very good way of explaining things and is really knowledge and approachable. We had the most up to date equipment to practice with and they had organised models for us to practice on ( this often isn't the case I've found with courses). Lastly the girls in the office were very helpful and friendly if I needed any help with anything. Highly recommend.

…And see if it's the right path for you. The day-to-day tasks of a professional laser tattoo removal therapist will include client consultations, safe tattoo removal treatments, communicating with clients and managing bookings.

Check if you are suitable to complete a Level 5 training
You’ll need the following accredited qualifications: Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology, Level 4 Laser and IPL and Level 5 in Laser Tattoo Removal. You will also need a special treatment licence to work legally as a tattoo removal specialist.

Complete accredited training to become qualified
You must complete the laser tattoo removal course and gain the VTCT level 5 certificate in laser tattoo removal. The qualification authorizes safe tattoo removal and allows you to obtain insurance for clinic or tattoo parlour work.

Find a clinic to work in and gain experience
Once you have completed your Level 5 training, you can start working on clients to remove their tattoos safely with a laser. There are very few clinics that specialise in just tattoo removal. Most clients currently receive Laser tattoo removal from skin clinics that offer other laser treatments.

Build a successful portfolio of your work
For any successful aesthetician, you need a portfolio of your work. Clients want to see your skills in the before and after pictures. Especially for tattoo removal, if you’ve treated someone with a similar tattoo and successfully removed it, future clients will know that you can do theirs.
